My name is Heather and I am the owner of Creative Confections by Heather. I am also the wife of an amazingly supportive husband, the mom of 3 beautiful daughters and 2 spunky sons, and a funeral director intern turned baker. How does THAT happen you ask? Well, let me tell you!
My baking adventure started in 2001 when I baked my first daughter's first birthday cake in New Jersey- a state that does not allow home bakers to sell their baked goods. So, over the years, I stuck to making cakes (and in 2011, cookies!) for friends, family functions, and other special occasions while I attended mortuary school and became a funeral director intern at wonderful funeral home in Pennsylvania.
Fast forward to March of 2014 when my husband's job transferred him to Lynchburg, VA and part two of my baking adventure began! I was excited to find out about the Virginia cottage food laws and that I could actually sell my baked goods here! After having my fourth child and baking cookies for the nurses at the hospital, word started to get around about my cookies. So, I decided it was time to expand and get out from under the cottage food exemption, and, in May 2016, I made Creative Confections by Heather a legal business and became a state-inspected commercial kitchen in November 2016.
Since then, the company has grown from a sole proprietorship to an LLC with two DBAs: Creative Confections by Heather and Sinful Sweets.
Providing visually appealing, great tasting confections for your special occasion or business has been, and will continue to be, my highest priority.
